At Transgrid, we play a crucial role in connecting electricity generators to the distribution network that power homes and businesses - we operate over 13,000km of high voltage transmission wires and 110 substations in NSW and the ACT connecting generators, distributors, and major end users.

 

Due to business growth and internal career progression, we are currently accepting EOIs for the Substation Technicians and Transmission Line Technicians. Positions can be based in Orange, Wagga Wagga, Yass and Tamworth.

 

Substation Technician – Grade 1

 

As a Substation Technician – Grade 1, you will perform tasks related to the installation, commissioning and maintenance of substation assets.  

 

You will undertake a comprehensive training program facilitated by Transgrid team, which will provide you with practical and technical expertise in substation electrical work including fault finding, repairs, maintenance, installation, and commissioning of assets within Transgrid’s substations. 

 

About you 

 

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent Electrical Trades Course Certificate (electrician trade course)
  • Flexibility to support on-call/ afterhours requests and respond to system incidents (as and when required)
  • Familiarity and experience with “Wiring Rules” and other Australian Standards
  • A current Australian Driver’s License

 

Transmission Lines Technician – Grade 1/ Linesman

 

As a Transmission Lines Technician/ Lineman, you will be accountable for inspection, maintenance, repairs and construction of transmission line assets across Transgrid’s transmission network. You will be required to perform a variety of tasks to ensure we meet customer expectations. It is expected that you ensure the safe delivery of work and comply with relevant policy and procedures

 

About you

 

  • Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems – Transmission and/or Distribution Overhead  
  • Transmission and/or Distribution line trade experience with the ability to interpret and analyse schematics
  • Flexibility to support on-call/ afterhours requests and respond to system incidents (as and when required)
  • Understanding of the inspection, maintenance and construction requirements associated with transmission line infrastructure
  • A current Australian Driver’s License
