The Design Manager will be accountable for
- Establish scope and overseeing all engineering deliverables for the substation and transmission lines, ensuring they align with project specifications, regulatory requirements and quality, safety and compliance standards
- Championing design management process and systems and providing engineering support to the procurement of key infrastructure
- Engaging with internal teams, external contractors and key stakeholders to ensure seamless scope integration and approvals and act as a client interface
- Maintaining control of project scope, identifying and solving design challenges, driving effective change management strategies and managing the successful handover of the completed asset
- Aligning engineering deliverables with project milestones, keeping all teams accountable and on track and provide technical expertise and advice to support critical decision-making
- Coaching and collaborating with site teams, resolving technical challenges and ensuring smooth execution during construction, testing and commissioning phases.
The value you bring
- Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, with 10+ years of experience in engineering, design and construction in a High Voltage environment, ideally across the full lifecycle of a project
- Experience building high performing engineering teams that are well connected and engaged across the organisation
- Ability to translate complex technical information into tailored messages for various internal and external audiences
- Knowledge and experience of preparing high quality design and specifications, as well as relevant policy, procedures and frameworks to ensure designs meet and exceed quality and compliance requirements
- Ability to influence and lead in a highly complex, matrix organisation and drive project design outcomes as required
- Proficient in the use of engineering business systems such as EDMS and other design software to develop designs
A current Driver’s Licence will be required as frequent travel to the site is expected.
