Internship Opportunity in Government Stakeholder Relations   

Work alongside teams responsible for leading Transgrid’s engagement with regulators, industry stakeholders, and corporate partners. You’ll contribute to sustainability reporting, regulatory affairs, strategic projects, and public advocacy initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria 

 

To be considered for Transgrid’s Summer Intern Program, you’ll need to meet the following requirements: 

  • Education: Currently enrolled in the second to penultimate year of a Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Media, or Public Relations degree at an Australian university. 

  • Career Motivation: Demonstrated interest in building a career within the energy sector.   

  • Personal Attributes: Environmentally and socially responsible, motivated, a strong team player, and eager to learn. 

  • Skills: Clear communicator, collaborative, lateral thinker, and able to contribute to innovative solutions. 

  • Cultural Awareness: Respectful of and sensitive to diversity and inclusion. 

  • Residency: Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen. 

  • Availability: Available to participate in the full 12-week program from 17 November 2025 to 13th February 2026, including allowance for seasonal holidays. 

 

 

The Recruitment Process: 

 

  1. Eligibility: Confirm your eligibility for the position that you are applying for. 

  1. Submit application: Create a profile on our careers portal and submit your application. 

  1. Screening:Our recruitment team will assess your application and inform you if you are unsuccessful. 

  1. Online Testing: If you pass screening, you will receive an email with instructions complete online cognitive testing, inclusive of numeracy, literacy and abstract reasoning.  

  1. Shortlisting: If you have successfully passed the benchmark for the online cognitive testing, the recruitment will review your application and you will be notified if you have progressed to the next stage.    

  1. Online Interview Centre:If you are successfully shortlisted, you will be invited to attend our online Interview Centre in September/October 2025.  

  1. Pre-Employment Checks:Candidates selected at the Interview Centre will be invited to undergo pre-employment checks.  

  1. Offer of Employment:Successful candidates will receive a verbal offer of employment followed by a formal offer sent by email.

  • Cognitive Testing Finalised:Sunday, 7th September 2025 

  • Online Interview Centre held:Tuesday 30th September – Wednesday 1st October 2025 

  • Pre-Employment Checks Finalised: Mid-October 2025 

  • Offer of Employment: Mid-October 2025 

  • Program Start Date: Monday, 17th November 2025 

  • Program Conclusion: Friday, 13th February 2026
