About the opportunity
This is an exciting career opportunity within the Energy Industry, where you can be a part of an organisation that is dedicated to renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
As a Civil and Plant Operator at Transgrid, you will be responsible for the provision of practical and technical expertise in Civil and Plant Operation on Substation and Transmission Line Assets within Transgrid’s Transmission Network, including the connection of renewable energy.
You will actively:
- Ensure plant, tools and equipment and sufficient for a planned task and are ready and available prior to commencement of work, including equipment hire and associated mobile plant
- Prepare planning and associated safety documentation for work as required
- Communicate in a clear and timely manner with all team leaders, site managers and other stakeholders, ensuring that relevant and appropriate information is provided
- Complete work and ensure that clear, completed and organised documentation is retained in relevant systems and further work is logged as appropriate
- Assist with resource and material estimating, site scoping and planning for planned works to be delivered
- Be accountable for delivery of maintenance, remedial and construction work to meet delivery expectations and budget
- Develop leadership capabilities to carry out work safely and effectively
- Work and operate in a manner which supports the Health and Safety outcomes of our people and our business
- Be allocated to and work within a standby rotating roster provide after-hours standby services and response to system incidents

To be considered, you must have:
- Possession of an appropriate qualification;
- Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations or equivalent; and
- Certificate III in Formwork/Falsework or equivalent
- Licence and competency in the operation of:
- Vehicle Loading Crane (CV)
- Boom-Type Elevating Work Platform (WP)
- Dogging/Basic Rigging Licence
- Work Safely at Heights licence
- A current Australian Heavy Vehicle Driver’s Licence
- Competent in:
- Interpretation of drawings including the identification of relevant services
- Identification and operation of earthmoving equipment
- An Australian permanent residency or an Australian or New Zealand citizenship
- Ability to travel and spend substantial time working away from home and base location, dependent on the work demands of the organisation
