The Opportunity
Are you a technically skilled and results-driven Senior Project Engineer looking to make an impact?
Joining either the Accelerated Synchronous Condenser Project or Central West Orana Project, means working on one of the most complex and dynamic projects in the energy sector. As the grid transitions to higher penetrations of renewables, these projects play a critical role in maintaining system strength and stability and unlocking connection to additional renewables, ensuring a reliable power system. You’ll be at the forefront of cutting-edge engineering challenges. This opportunity can be based out of our Sydney CBD Site, Wallgrove or Newcastle depot.
We’re seeking Senior Project Engineers to join our dynamic team within Class B of our Delivery function, overseeing the engineering function within these complex infrastructure projects. This role provides the opportunity to collaborate with Construction, Procurement, Engineering Design, Project Development, and Asset Management teams, ensuring seamless project execution from start to finish.
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will support Project Managers in project delivery and may independently manage smaller projects. Your expertise in procurement coordination, material management, construction oversight, and design coordination will be critical in delivering high-value projects across various locations.
A Day in the Life as a Project Engineer at Transgrid
- Plan, execute, and monitor all project phases, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Provide engineering support, resolve construction challenges, and ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate clear communication and coordination.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement while mentoring junior engineers.
- Ensure adherence to HSE regulations, governance frameworks, and risk management protocols.
- Track project performance, budgets, and risks, providing regular reports to project teams and leadership.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects (typically 4-8 years)
- Strong knowledge of transmission line or substation construction.
- Experience managing construction contracts and stakeholder agreements.
- Proficiency in risk management, quality assurance, and project reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, leadership abilities, and stakeholder engagement.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
