The Opportunity | Sydney, Newcastle, Orange, Wagga Wagga, Tamworth & Yass Locations Available - We Welcome Regional Applicants!

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Transmission Lines Reactive Maintenance team. This role is open to applicants with strong lines experience with relevant field exposure; who are looking to step into, or further develop within, project delivery.

You will manage a portfolio of asset maintenance and asset replacement projects (typically under $2M), coordinating works from inception through to close-out. This includes procurement, contractor engagement, design coordination, budgeting and on-site delivery support.

The role can be based from any Transgrid regional depot, with travel across NSW as required.

A Day in the Life

No two weeks look the same in this role. You might start your day reviewing defect reports or asset replacement scopes, working through how to bundle works efficiently and safely across multiple sites. From there, you could be developing RFQs, coordinating procurement for long-lead materials, or engaging delivery partners to plan upcoming maintenance activities.

You will work closely with Field Delivery teams, HSE Business Partners and Asset Managers to ensure works are scoped correctly and delivered safely. Regular site attendance is part of the role; not to perform the work, but to support teams on the ground, identify constructability improvements and proactively manage emerging risks. As projects progress, you’ll track budgets, schedules and contractor performance, ensuring each package is delivered on time and within agreed parameters. You’ll coordinate design inputs where required, manage documentation and support project close-out activities.

At its core, this role combines your practical lines knowledge with structured project delivery giving you the opportunity to influence how work is planned, packaged and executed across the network.

About You

We encourage applications from team members who bring:

• Strong transmission or distribution line field experience

• Practical understanding of overhead construction and maintenance

• A desire to step into project coordination and delivery

• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn commercial processes

You may hold:

• A Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (or similar), or

• Cert III in Distribution, Transmission Powerline, or Electrotechnology with relevant experience.

Formal project management experience or PMP certification is advantageous but not essential.

Most importantly, we are looking for individuals who understand our network, value safety and are ready to take the next step in their career.

Why Apply?

This is a genuine development opportunity within Delivery & O&M.

You will gain exposure to project governance, procurement, budgeting and stakeholder coordination while continuing to leverage your field expertise. Ongoing mentoring and training will be provided to support your transition into project delivery.

If you have been looking for a pathway off the tools or into broader project responsibilities, this is your opportunity.
