Location: Newcastle, NSW, Australia

Company: Transgrid

About Us

At Transgrid, our work improves the lives of millions – from lighting up sports fields, schools and homes, to powering the wheels of commerce and everything else in between. Now it’s your turn to make it happen.

This is an exciting time in the energy industry with the transition to renewable energy. Recent government policy documents outline plans to facilitate increasing transmission interconnection between states and development of renewable energy zones.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will help Transgrid meet its obligations as a Metering Provider under the National Electricity Rules. You will provide technical assurance across metering installations, systems and data, lead compliance reviews, support AEMO audits and investigate complex technical issues. You will also improve the processes and work instructions that underpin accurate, reliable and audit-ready metering outcomes.

The role ideally will be based in Newcastle or Eastern Creek, but we are open to candidates based at any other Transgrid location such as Orange, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, or Yass.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead reviews of existing and newly installed metering points to confirm compliance with the National Electricity Rules.
  • Prepare technical evidence and documentation for AEMO audits and represent Transgrid throughout the audit process.
  • Monitor and improve metering processes, field practices, procedures and work instructions.
  • Manage metering system functionality and data quality to support accurate, complete and auditable records.
  • Analyse test results and investigate metering defects, technical issues and compliance gaps.

What You’ll Bring

  • A degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline, and industry experience in delivering maintenance programs.
  • Experience or knowledge of electrical networks, substations, secondary systems, transmission, distribution or metering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to interpret and apply technical standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation and stakeholder communication skills.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to build specialist expertise in electricity metering while contributing to an area of significant regulatory and operational importance. Your work will help protect the accuracy and integrity of Transgrid’s metering information, strengthen audit readiness and support reliable energy measurement across the network.
