The Network Connections team play a key role in connecting new renewable generation, energy storage systems, and large loads to the NSW and ACT transmission network. By partnering with developers, OEMs, and stakeholders across the energy sector, we ensure that new projects are integrated safely, efficiently, and in a way that supports grid stability and reliability.
The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for a network connections expert to join our Network business unit as Team Lead, Network Connections. Reporting to the Manager Network Connections, you will lead a team of technical specialists and engineers in assessing and enabling new connections to the NSW transmission system, including synchronous and asynchronous generators, energy storage projects, and large industrial loads.
What You Will Be Responsible For
As a recognised industry specialist, you will provide technical leadership and guide a high-performing team in a dynamic and evolving environment. You’ll support your team in managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, while maintaining a high level of follow-through and communication with stakeholders.
You will also play a key role in shaping connection processes, policies, and guidelines, building trusted relationships across the energy sector.
Key accountabilities include:
- Leading technical assessments and negotiation of performance standards to achieve the optimal outcomes for both projects and the network.
- Leading investigation of wide-area system issues impacting generator connections and developing robust solutions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting, motivating, and developing capability and potential in team members and driving a high-performance work culture.
- Fostering a continuous improvement culture in the team to ensure team capabilities remain current, flexible, and aligned with evolving business and network needs.
About You
You are a strategic and technically proficient leader with a passion for solving complex problems. Known for your collaborative approach and ability to navigate complex environments, you build trust and credibility quickly with stakeholders. You thrive in dynamic settings, bring out the best in your team, and are motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of the energy sector.
You bring:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineering qualifications preferred (e.g. CPEng, RPEQ)
- Extensive experience in leading generator connections and compliance
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies and processes governing Connections including the National Electricity Rules (NER)
- Proficiency with PSS®E, PSCAD software and wide area network assessments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
