About Us

This is an exciting time in the energy industry with the transition to renewable energy. Recent government policy documents outline plans to facilitate increasing transmission interconnection between states and development of renewable energy zones.
The Opportunity
Be part of something bigger. At Transgrid, you’ll play a meaningful role in powering Australia’s clean energy future while helping to create lasting social impact for First Nations communities.
As we continue to grow and lead the energy transition, we’re looking for an Indigenous Affairs Advisor to join our team for an 18-month fixed term contract. In this role, you’ll support the delivery and evolution of Transgrid’s Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), ensuring our commitments align with the rights, interests, and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
You’ll work collaboratively across the organisation to co-design and implement engagement strategies that support RAP outcomes across our projects. This includes building strong, respectful relationships with First Nations Elders, Traditional Owners, communities, and delivery partners.
Working closely with our People & Culture and Procurement teams, you’ll help embed RAP priorities into business practices and drive initiatives that create meaningful opportunities and sustainable outcomes. You’ll also partner with project teams to ensure culturally appropriate engagement, supporting policy, planning, and project delivery aligned with RAP priorities and Closing the Gap targets.
About you
You are passionate about creating positive outcomes for First Nations peoples and bringing cultural understanding into organisational practices.
You’ll bring:
- A strong understanding of the issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the ability to apply appropriate cultural protocols across diverse communities
- Experience delivering or supporting a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with communities and stakeholders
- Strong communication skills, with confidence in preparing and delivering both written and verbal insights
- Experience developing and implementing engagement strategies and community-focused initiatives
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders in a complex environment
- Sound judgement and the ability to apply policies and frameworks in practical ways
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes
- A track record of delivering initiatives that create meaningful social impact
