Engineering at Transgrid is divided into three core specialties: Planning, Design and Projects.
No matter which area you join, you can look forward to getting your hands on the latest technology, quality equipment and large-scale projects, while making a significant impact on one of the best high voltage networks in the world.
If you’re an experienced Electrical or Civil Engineer, you could apply your talent to one of the following core engineering functions.
Planning
Planning engineers oversee network performance, system planning and operations planning. They spend their days applying creativity and innovation to plan for the future requirements and possibilities of our network. They enjoy the challenge of generating and testing new ideas and solutions that continually strengthen and transform our network, progressing its performance and capabilities to the next level.
Design
Design engineers are critical to the control and flow of electricity across our network. Specialising in the design of substations, lines and/or communications, their projects can include anything from designing new substation equipment using the latest technologies, to building signal-based communication systems that can detect and stop faults between substations within seconds of them occurring. Every project is different; each needs to be designed with different types of terrain, new technologies and environmental impacts in mind. Design engineers are often supported to develop diverse career paths that couldstep into planning and projects.
Projects
Our talented Projects teams oversee the end-to-end management of large scale projects – from development and construction, through to delivery. Our engineers and infrastructure professionals are exposed to adiverse portfolio of interesting regulated and unregulated jobs, from building new substations to connecting gold mines and wind farms to our network. They receive ongoing opportunities to travel throughout the state and to liaise with a diverse mix of stakeholders, such as our Operations teams, private customers, and community and environmental groups.
